Young celebrity chef Tim Matzer has recently opened the Bullerei Restaurant in Hamburg, which already stands out for its delicatessen products and distinctive menu.
The restaurant sits in the heart of the meatpacking district near the Schanze area, and is housed in the old facilities of a cattle-breeding barn.

The interior design was entrusted to Giorgio Gullotta (architect) and Kathrin Bade (interior designer), who chose to highlight the barn’s existing industrial features while keeping the style of the space simple.
As chef Tim Matzer says, “We wanted to create a space that wouldn’t be overly stylised.” The space is divided into separate dining zones framed by low walls.
These dividing elements stand out in the industrial-style space thanks to graffiti by street artist Elmar Lause, whose bold colours decorate their surfaces.
If you find yourself in Hamburg, don’t miss the chance to try the distinctive menu at the Bullerei Restaurant.
