TAF presents its annual exhibition Workshops, which opens on Tuesday, 17 January and runs until 12 February 2012.
The exhibition presents a selection of works by recent graduates of the Athens School of Fine Arts and highlights the artistic trends currently developing in Greece. Most of the works are part of the artists’ degree projects, while in some cases they represent a development of their practice since graduation.
The works on show reflect future directions and bring out the social influences, educational stimuli and artistic references that shape Greece’s visual art production today. In this year’s edition, abstract painting – an artistic style with a broad and decisive presence on the local art scene – is strongly represented.
The annual Workshops exhibition seeks to create a dialogue around the work of young visual artists. The need to present recent graduates arose from the lack of exhibition space for exploring the conceptual content and formal elements of emerging Greek contemporary art.
