A focused exhibition event that promotes and showcases design on a pan-European scale, presenting its character and profile through designers, architects, artists, creative teams and internationally renowned BRANDS, returns for its 4th edition at the ITALIAN CULTURAL INSTITUTE OF ATHENS, 47 Patission Street.
Following the success of the previous three exhibitions, visitors to the 4th DESIGN FOR LIFE will have the chance to discover significant exhibits, presented with a fresh, modern approach in a “dialogue” with the imaginative art that expresses difference.
The central themes of the exhibition are the Philosophy of Design:
– Designing the Future
– Exploring Design
– DESIGN FOR ALL, which teaches design to children with pervasive developmental disorder and intellectual disability, so that it is accessible to everyone.
The AFDF creative team behind the 4th DESIGN FOR LIFE sets out to prove that, despite the shocks of the crisis, it is contributing with resilience, courage and hope to a continuous struggle to bring out the creator’s inspiration, so that at moments when a “different Europe” will stand beside artists and creators, it can help them realise their vision and their lives in general.
The thematic layout across the impressive halls of the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens includes:
- A tribute to world-famous Italian design, featuring Gio Ponti, Ettore Sotsass and others, and the BRANDS: B&B-CASSINA (DELOUDIS) / MOROSO (CASA DI PATSI) / RICHE D’ART masterpieces collection / ARTEMIDE (ARTEMIDE HELLAS) / MOLTENI (ABAX) / GIO PONTI (CHRISTOFLE) and others
- FURNITURE – OBJECTS – LIGHTING (VITRA / ABAX / CHRISTOFLE BERNARDAUD, presenting a series of plates by MARINA ABRAMOVIC / RICHE D’ART / DESIGN PLAZA and others)
- Complete home interiors (AMASS / CASA DI PATSI / TECNO / IDEAL STANDARD and others)
In general, most of the exhibits have won the RED DOT DESIGN AWARD and the COMPASSO D’ORO – ADI.

First presentation of the art movement DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE HYBRID. This is the movement created by the AFDF team, with disruptive elements combined with the ultimate disruption. It is a continuous movement of thought, design and third-generation contemporary technology. It does away with many elements of interior design and of intermediate methods of design and operation. It is a complete, advanced approach to design, with exceptional capabilities that achieves outstanding aesthetics and environmental application. Bold and dynamic, for pioneering design and architecture.
In Hybrid Design, specifications are overturned through the union of science, creativity and contemplation in their ideal form. The coordinates of classical geometry, with their magical quality, bring order to chaos….
