Transfohunting Athens

"When trash becomes treasure", 25–28 June at Impact HUB.

Transfohunting Athens

The Concept

Isn’t reuse and recycling only useful for “Do it yourself (DIY)” projects and household hacks? Can my design objects be produced within a circular economy? Can the streets of Athens become the source of my ideas and materials? Can I really turn waste into products that can be brought to market and sold? How can my creative work boost progress and economic growth in Greece?

These questions, and many more, will be explored during this hands-on workshop. Over four days we will follow the full life cycle of circular product design. We will start with the theory behind it, then head out into the streets of Athens in search of materials and ideas, and finish by designing your own products, building your prototypes and developing your own marketing strategy. We will have achieved our goal if every participant leaves the workshop with newfound confidence in sustainable, eco-friendly design and the enthusiasm to start experimenting with waste on their own.

Who can take part: Students and professionals with a background in industrial design, architecture or fine arts who are passionate about sustainability, upcycling and eco-design.
