The architectural work of British architect John Pawson is on show for the first time at the Design Museum in London, from 22 September to 30 January 2011.

British architect John Pawson is regarded as the father of modern architectural minimalism.
His work stands out for its meticulous process of simplification in design and for the creation of spaces with a restrained character and a “clear” configuration.

For the first time, the work of John Pawson is being shown at the Design Museum in London, in an exhibition titled Plain Space that is dedicated to the architect’s career to date.
On display are building models, video projections, photographs, and architectural materials and elements from his largest and most characteristic projects, such as the Cisterian Monastery of Our Lady of Novy Dvur in the Czech Republic, the Sackler Crossing bridge in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and the Calvin Klein store on Madison Avenue in New York.

At the heart of the exhibition stands an impressive installation designed by the architect himself.
The installation is a full-scale representation of an interior space, offering visitors a direct, “living” experience of John Pawson‘s architectural vision.
