For the fourth consecutive year, the p_public team, under the auspices of the Chania Architects Association, is organising the p_public festival. Its core is a two-day programme of public discussions and presentations by young scientists, artists and creative groups from Greece and abroad. Alongside it, a series of events and art installations across the city of Chania aims to change the urban and natural landscape of the city temporarily or, why not, permanently.
Prompted by the multitude of events that mark contemporary society and demand ever faster rates of change, whether through adaptation or through rupture, this year we will be discussing the evolution of public space.
Just as, according to Darwin’s theory, a human organism mutates under the influence of external factors, the city, as an organism, is shaped by multiple parameters and changes in form and function. By extension, the same is true of public space.
In this context, we invite you to reflect, to express yourselves and to take an active part in the discussions and events that will take place in the city of Chania over the three days of 7–9 June 2013.
