Deutscher Werkbund

An exhibition on the German industrial design movement is on at the Benaki Museum, in its building on Pireos Street, until 28 November.

Deutscher Werkbund

The Architecture Museum of the Technical University of Munich and the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) present the exhibition Deutscher Werkbund, a tribute marking 100 years since the founding of this important movement.

The Deutscher Werkbund movement was founded in Munich in 1907 by a select group of progressive German industrialists, politicians, artists and architects, with the aim of safeguarding the quality of German industrial production.

It remained highly active until the early 1930s, and even influenced the Bauhaus school.

The exhibition will show rare documents, including posters and historic magazines, along with a wealth of original industrial design objects, drawn from the full range of the German Deutscher Werkbund‘s activity over the course of the 20th century.

The Deutscher Werkbund exhibition will be held at the Benaki Museum, in its building on Pireos Street, from 27 October to 28 November.
