Choosing a color to decorate a space, and even more so combining several colors, can be a challenge for any of us.
So we can’t help but appreciate the clever web app and tool My Colortopia, which can be a great help by “translating” images that inspire us into specific suggestions for colors and color combinations.
How does it work?
Say you find a photo of a room you like and would want something similar for your own home. You upload the photo using the Image Inspiration Tool and select the part of the room you want to recreate. A window with color suggestions then pops up to make your life easier!
The tool gives you options that include the colors you liked, along with several shades of them that go nicely together – like an automatic palette!
You can then email or print the colors you have chosen, so that you can take them to a paint store, buy them and bring the color scheme of your dreams to life.
In the images that follow, you can see an example of how Gina from theshabbycreekcottage.com (where we first heard about My Colortropia) experimented with a photo she found on Pinterest and thought would suit her living room. She selected a section of the photo that included part of the sofa, the wall and the curtains, in order to bring out the color scheme she had “fallen for” in the photo.
