“Green Good Design” is an exhibition organised by the Chicago Athenaeum, Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. It presents more than 150 award-winning industrial and architectural projects, landscape architecture and urban planning works from the historic “Good Design” awards for 2010.
Having travelled across Europe, the exhibition completes its tour at Contemporary Space Athens, where it will be on show until 19 June 2011.
“Green Good Design” was founded in Chicago in 1950 by the architects Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames. It is the oldest and most important programme in the world to honour the best designs in terms of vision and “ecological approach”.
Its aim is to raise public awareness of, and inform people about, a revolutionary approach to design: a new way of thinking, led by today’s generation of visionary architects, designers, landscape designers, companies, governments, individuals, and private and public institutions, towards design based on the ideals of:
• saving energy
• reducing toxic waste and greenhouse gas emissions
• minimising our dependence on fossil fuels
• raising awareness of pollution
• the depletion of natural resources
