What is design, really?

Beyond definitions, theoretical debates, hype, prejudices and clichés, design is nothing less than something that, quite simply, makes objects, images, the world and your own life better. Design is the translation of an idea of a more beautiful, more functional world into an object, a page, a space… Design is not merely a description of the aesthetics or surface of things, but something with the power to change the way you live.

Design is hard to put into words. It is something you have to see, touch and experience.

The exhibition 2011% Greek Design aims to capture the diversity, the steady rise, the outward-looking spirit, the modernity, the inspiration and the significance of Greek design, here and now.

Eighteen young designers and studios, who are at the cutting edge of Greek creativity in every form of contemporary design and who work both in Greece and abroad, come together to create a kaleidoscopic and as complete a picture of it as possible, guided not by “nationality” but by ideas, talent, and the extent to which their work helps our everyday lives “function” better. To be better!
