A property development company from Amsterdam has created these beautiful and affordable relocatable homes, designed to be placed on land where construction has stalled, or on small vacant plots that lie unused in city centres.
The 45-square-metre Heijmans ONE has been designed around the needs of the millennial generation, offering a solution for affordable housing in urban centres. Each home has one bedroom and is environmentally sustainable (solar panels provide the energy it needs), and it can be moved and set up in a single day. Two prototype homes have already been installed in Amsterdam, hosting residents on a trial basis so that they can give the company the feedback it needs.

Besides the bedroom, which is on a second level, each home has a bathroom, a kitchen and a living area flooded with light thanks to two very large windows at the front. Outside them is a small private terrace. The rent is 700 euros a month, which in other major European capitals, such as London, would pay for just a single room in a central apartment.
Thirty more homes are due to be installed over the coming months in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Den Bosch in the Netherlands, while the construction company is looking to export the Heijmans ONE to the rest of Europe in 2015.

The following video offers an interesting presentation of the concept:
