An Emblematic 19th-Century Building Houses the Law Firm “Zapata & Herrera”

Taking as their starting point the historic values of an emblematic building in the historic centre of Valencia, the Masquespacio team designed the interiors of the law firm Zapata y Herrera. The design team avoided the usual clichés of a law firm, turning them into design “metaphors”.

While giving the space a distinctive professional character, the design also reflects the firm’s corporate values through its choice of colours: black, grey and natural wood, which dominates the space.

The old timber beams in the building’s ceiling were renovated and became a key feature of the project. In general, wood in its natural shade plays the leading role in the decor, and its understated presence conveys a sense of trust and confidence, which are, after all, the core values of Zapata y Herrera.

Grey, too, symbolises stability and professionalism, while the strong black conveys elegance, as well as the seriousness with which the team handles its clients’ cases.

To make the best use of the space, which is not particularly large, L-shaped desks were used, with storage units placed beneath them.

The wooden “curtains” are also of interest, with alternating colour elements that reflect the firm’s corporate values.

In the meeting room, a series of empty picture frames offers an alternative to the usual display of diplomas found in law firms.

In the offices of the trainee lawyers, small pots of aloe plants reinforce the “green” character of the space, for which the “green”, eco-friendly chairs by Javier Mariscal were also chosen, made from 100% recycled and 100% recyclable material.

In the lounge area, you can spot the “Float couch”, designed by the well-known furniture designer Karim Rashid for the Spanish company Sancal.
