“25Hours Hotel HafenCity” in the City of Hamburg

Welcoming and warm, the public spaces of the 25hours Hotel HafenCity in Hamburg are designed to make you want to “kick back”, like a ship docked in the harbour.

The elements and materials used to decorate this distinctive hotel, one of six in the chain across Europe, come from the world of seafaring, and their use in these interesting compositions is no accident.

It is no accident because every element tells the story of one of 25 sailors from around the world, using images to speak of perilous sea crossings, romantic encounters, storms and partings.

The accessories and objects in the rooms reflect the adventures that can be read in full in the building’s diaries.

The interior was designed by Stephen Williams Associates and the lighting by Tom Schlotfeldt. Markus Stoll also made an important contribution, taking charge of the “storytelling” for the 25Hours Hotel HafenCity brand (the myths, messages and history associated with a brand).

Wooden decks, leather seating, relaxed floor cushions and furniture reminiscent of a ship’s lounge effectively support the hotel’s interesting concept.

Games, table football, record players and well-stocked bookshelves also encourage guests to kick back in the hotel’s spaces.

The beautifully designed spaces, dining areas and meeting rooms make ideal venues for events. And of course, there are bunk beds too, for a thoroughly “nautical” feel!
