The truth is that we have grown used to using the small pieces of furniture that have become established as coffee tables for our living rooms. Rectangular, square, oval or round, wooden or metal, with or without a glass top, they are for the most part single pieces that dominate the living room or sitting area and serve a practical purpose, giving us somewhere to put decorative or everyday objects.
Increasingly, however, people are choosing an alternative to the usual coffee table: individual small pieces of furniture, such as stools or side tables, used in pairs.
This makes for a freer, more creative approach to arranging the seating area, and it also creates a sense of openness, without large, bulky pieces that make the space feel crowded.
Here are some examples using “twin” tables, which show how a living room or sitting area can be transformed by this kind of decorative intervention.

This solution suits small spaces. Depending on the needs of the home, though, one should not overlook the fact that it offers no storage, which matters if storage is needed.
