We have seen so-called “barn doors” used in a number of projects: the doors of old barns and stables, repurposed as decorative elements in interiors, where they replace traditional sliding doors.
“Stealing” the idea, the Seattle-based studio Robin Chell Design created an original fireplace screen in metal that slides open and shut.
The idea obviously only works with built-in fireplaces, but it is an original solution that also has practical value, since with a screen like this, putting it in place and removing it takes a single, simple movement.
P.S. For anyone wondering what “barn doors” are… here is an example photo!
