A wonderful rustic home full of traditional features, which serves as a haven of calm.

Rustic House in Girona, Spain

In the historic Empordà region of Girona, a 14th-century house has been renovated and transformed into an authentic rustic home, with an emphasis on detail.

The traditional elements used in the furnishings, together with the building materials, create an atmosphere that is nothing like a city home. Instead, it “transports” you to a state of calm, as if you were in the countryside.

On the walls, the stone and lime plaster of the old building have been preserved, reinforcing the rustic style. There are also plenty of other country-style features, such as the built-in seating with cushions, the marble washbasin in the bathroom, and the sink and cabinets in the kitchen.

In several places, old-fashioned suitcases are used as side tables, bedside tables and so on. The choice of rugs and cushions also plays its part in achieving the desired result.

Every room is a source of inspiration for anyone who loves the rustic style and wants to bring it into their own space.
