Positive Energy with Feng Shui

How three simple feng shui moves can bring positive energy into our space.

Positive Energy with Feng Shui

A Chinese proverb says that everything in a space “speaks to us”, so we should make sure each thing has a good story to tell.

The space where we work should give us the energy and strength to pursue everything we want to achieve. In the same way, our home should “embrace” us, calm us with its energy, help us rest, and “encourage” us to make plans for the future with optimism and positive energy!

The principles of favourable spatial planning in Feng Shui offer 3 simple guidelines for bringing positive energy into our space, and they will “open” up the energy path of luck, prosperity and wealth for us.

1/ We sort out what is in our space

We take a good look at all the things we have kept in the cupboards, drawers or storeroom of our home and office.
If we can’t decide whether an object is useless or useful, we can ask ourselves these six questions:

1.
Do I love it?
2. Do I need it?
3. Does it reflect who I am now in my life (and not who I was, say, ten years ago)?
4. Am I positively connected to this object?
5. Does it need repairing, and will I do it right away?
6. If I had to move tomorrow, would I pay to take it with me?

If we answer “no” to any of these questions, then the object is superfluous and useless, and it is time to remove it from the space so that we free ourselves, in energy terms, from the unpleasant situations of the past.

2/ We make sure the 5 elements are in balance

According to feng shui, it is important for the 5 elements (water, fire, metal, earth and wood) to be in balance in a space, so that the flow of Qi energy can move smoothly through it and create a harmonious, calm environment.

To introduce the water element, we choose wave-like shapes, blue/black or light blue colours, and glass ornaments or glass surfaces.

For the fire element, we add shades of red, orange and purple, triangular shapes and decorative candles.

For the metal element, we make sure to have metal ornaments or small pieces of furniture, and add touches of gold, silver and copper.

Finally, for the earth element, we add porcelain or clay ornaments and rectangular shapes in the fabrics or furniture.

3/ We place plants that bring positive energy

By adding a few plants or flowers, indoors or outdoors, we strengthen the wood element. Beyond balancing the 5 elements mentioned above, this brings the energy of nature into our personal space and our office.

We can place a money tree (Pachira) or bamboo stems in the southeast for wealth and prosperity, pansies in the southwest for family harmony, orchids or tulips in the north to revive and strengthen our romantic relationship, a jade plant (Crassula) at the entrance for luck, and finally a dracaena or a cactus for protection against negative energy.
