Many of the things we have stored away in a cupboard, or are thinking of throwing out, can take on a new practical and decorative value in our homes, if we look at them from a fresh angle and, above all, use a little imagination.
On myhomeideas.com we found some clever ideas for putting 9 different items to “alternative” uses:

Dress up your fridge with jewellery! Instead of throwing away worn costume jewellery or broken brooches, snip off the pins with wire cutters and glue a magnet to the back, then use them to “hang” postcards, your children’s drawings or the shopping list on the fridge.
Leave it to the “magicians” to try to bend spoons and forks with the power of thought… You can simply put them to use as attractive hooks for hanging towels, and for much more besides, in your kitchen.
Put a copy of a favourite photograph, or a design you find online, into your old slim frame and use it as a serving tray for drinks and cocktails.

Instead of installing a standard metal shelf to hold your towels, find a ladder made of bamboo or another wood that can withstand humidity and let it do the job, without even needing any tools!
Use old wine glasses as candle holders to create a romantic atmosphere at dinner. The glasses should ideally have thick walls and a layer of sand or pebbles at the bottom so that they can withstand the heat.
Collect interesting paper place mats from the restaurants and bars you visit on your travels and turn them into gift tags for your friends and relatives. Simply punch a hole in one corner to thread the ribbon through.
