David Stovell offers an interesting way to recycle and reuse Sunday newspapers and magazines, turning them into a series of original, attractive and practical small pieces of furniture for the home.
Aiming to extend the life cycle of newspapers and magazines, or almost to restart it, he shows us how to use them as raw material so that, in a few simple steps, we can make our own stool or side table.
What you will need:
Newspapers and magazines, depending on the height you want your stool or table to be.
• An electric screwdriver, insulating tape/Sellotape, screws, straps, and 2 belts or webbing straps, or anything else that inspires you (once you have seen the rest of the instructions and better understood what they are for).
Let’s get started…

Step 1:
Roll the newspapers up tightly and secure them with Sellotape so that they keep their new shape.
Step 2:
Start “building” the stool by creating layers with the paper rolls. Each layer should be fastened with the straps and include about 6 more rolls than the one before. Gradually, a large cylindrical form will take shape.
Step 3:
As well as using the straps, on each layer you will need to drive screws in with the electric screwdriver at strategic points. The screws should be long enough to go through at least 2 rolls.
Step 4:
When you reach the last layer, there is no need to use screws. You can simply secure it with the 2 leather belts or straps, which will also work as decorative elements.
Step 5:
Now you are ready to choose a spot for your new piece of furniture! You can use it as a stool or as a side table by fixing a round piece of glass or a decorative tray to its top.
