DIY Pallet Shelves for Books and Magazines

Starting with a single pallet, make 2 charming wall shelves yourself.

DIY Pallet Shelves for Books and Magazines

We found another lovely idea starring …a pallet, over at Little Lucy Lu.

With a little effort, you can take an old pallet as your raw material and make 2 charming shelves with a rustic look, for a child’s room and beyond.

Here’s how to achieve this transformation:

Step 1

Following the direction shown in the photo below, make 2 straight cuts along the green lines.

The result will look something like this!

Note: We will use the 2 leftover middle boards to form the base of the 2 shelves.

Step 2

Remove the central board to free up more room for the books.

Step 3

Nail the boards intended for the base of the 2 shelves to the bottom of each unit.

Step 4

Sand the shelves down with sandpaper.

Step 5

Apply a varnish, a primer and then the paint of your choice, following the product instructions for drying times.

You’re all set!

Enjoy your new shelves!
