When Kori of the blog “Mom’s of All Trades” saw a mirror in the shops with a frame that looked like wooden blocks, she decided to take matters into her own hands and try making it herself rather than buying it ready-made. The result? A distinctive wooden mirror. The raw material? The wooden blocks of the game we all know, Jenga!
So let’s “borrow” her ingenuity and see how we can make our own wooden mirror by recycling our old Jenga set.
The materials you will need are:
– a cork board cut to the size you want the mirror to be, frame included
– a rectangular piece of mirror in the dimensions you want
– glue
– wood paint in the colors of your choice
– a saw
Paint the Jenga blocks in the color of your choice, using a paint made for wooden surfaces. You can use more than one color, depending on what suits the space where the mirror will hang.
Once the blocks have dried, mark on the cork board where the mirror will sit and glue it to the surface, allowing at the same time for the frame you will need to “cover” with the colored blocks. Glue the first blocks to the surface. Then cut some of the remaining blocks to the right size to fill the gaps that are left.

Kori then sanded and polished the wooden surface to achieve a more matte, subtle finish with an aged look.
The beauty of making a decorative piece like this mirror yourself is that you can design it in whatever size you like and use whichever colors best suit the room’s décor. And, of course, there is the satisfaction of knowing you “won’t see anything like it in anyone else’s home.”
Why not try making your own Jenga mirror? Good luck!
