An interesting project that combines concrete and rope puts an end to doors slamming in the wind.
What you will need
- 1 metre of thick rope
- 2 galvanised rings
- electrical tape
- moulds for the concrete: choose milk or juice cartons, or round plastic containers that you can cut
- concrete mix

Step 1: Prepare the rope
Cut two pieces of equal length. Wrap the ends with electrical tape to stop them from fraying. Then thread them through the rings and secure them.

Step 2: Fill the moulds with concrete
Pour the concrete mix into the moulds, carefully sink the rope in by its base, and hold it steady in place until the concrete has set slightly.

Step 3: Let it dry
Leave your stoppers to dry for 2–3 days before “freeing” them from their moulds. Then remove them carefully, so you don’t damage them in case they haven’t dried properly.

Step 4: Sanding
Since the texture of the concrete surface can sometimes be uneven, you can sand it down to remove any such marks.
Step 5: Attach felt pads
To keep your stoppers from scratching the floor, it’s a good idea to stick on a few self-adhesive felt protectors.
That’s it! Your new stoppers are ready!
