A Light Effect for a Shopfront

A clever DIY idea completely transforms a shop's facade and makes a striking impression.

A Light Effect for a Shopfront

The team (fos), based in Madrid and Barcelona, has created a temporary light installation at the restaurant Rayen at Lope de Vega in Madrid.

The installation is also called “fos”, from the Greek word for light (φως) and the Catalan word for “melted”, in an attempt to describe the sensation it conveys.

Using yellow insulating tape, yellow-painted decorative elements and a single lamp, the team achieved a remarkable result: a play on perspective and decorative elements that creates an optical illusion.

Looking at the facade, you get the impression that a beam of light is falling from the light fixture above the main entrance. The result is hard to miss!
