A Cork Workspace

A desk, two shelves and a huge pinboard in the background make up a functional work corner.

A Cork Workspace

Don’t have a spare room at home to turn into a study? That doesn’t mean you can’t create your own workspace in your home.

An installation we saw in Tokyo, created by Artek and Vitra, may serve as a source of inspiration in this direction.

To define your work area, even if it is built into your living room, you can make clever use of a cork or OSB panel (now found in quite a few bars) as a backdrop. Beyond setting the corner apart and marking out its boundaries, this solution has a functional side too: you get a handy pinboard to help you organise your desk.

What else will you need? A simple desk, some shelves and your imagination.

Extra tip!

If you want to add a little more colour to your corner, you can use OSB painted with watercolour.
