This distinctive bathroom is in the home of designer Betty Lou Phillips. A well-known interior decorator and author, Betty Lou Phillips has a particular admiration and appreciation for French style and everything it stands for. That explains the striking design of the guest bathroom in her home, where Parisian décor is present throughout.
Attention to detail runs through every decorative choice. With an antique chandelier, a metal bathtub, silver accents, a striking mirror, a vintage display cabinet, a classic armchair, a side table and just the right accessories, Betty Lou Phillips captures the luxurious “French style” in all its splendor.
The feel of the bathroom is distinctive, brimming with elegance and refinement. We have already featured a few ideas for bathrooms for two, but this one, with its unmistakable “Madame” and “Monsier” labels, is without a doubt the most sophisticated and elegant solution we have come across.

Each washbasin has its own mat, marking out his space and hers. As Betty Lou Phillips explains in an interview with housebeautiful.com, the idea began years ago, when she happened to find two silver towel rings in a shop, engraved with “Madame” and “Monsier”, and promised herself she would one day do something creative with them.

The Carrara marble used here heightens the sense of elegance even further. The designer chose it for inspiration from the luxury hotels Plaza Athénée, Ritz, George V and Crillon, which use marble on floors and walls and follow the same logic in their layouts: a separate shower and bathtub in the same bathroom.
