The non-profit arts organisation Wasted Spaces chooses empty, abandoned spaces in the urban landscape as a platform for striking interactive installations.
The aim of the artists’ collective Wasted Spaces is to give young, emerging artists the chance to show their work, drawing in the participation of each local community through interactive installations. The result is high-quality art that is open and accessible to everyone, giving the general public the opportunity to take part in what we call modern art.

One of the group’s recent urban interventions is the project entitled The Hello Wall, which is projected onto the blank side wall of a building.
For this work, the London-based artist duo Hellicar & Lewis were selected. They created an interactive installation that uses Twitter to let the public interact with the huge projection on the wall. Members of the public can influence the subject of the projection by sending messages on Twitter to @thehellowall, using words for shapes (triangles, squares, circles) or commands (more, less, shake), or simply by saying hello.
As users take part, the visual result of the projection is constantly changing.
