Made a Mano was founded in 2001 with the ambition of creating a collection of tiles, sinks and kitchen countertops that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.
Made a Mano’s collections combine beauty and style.
All the tiles are worked, glazed and decorated entirely by hand, while the terracotta and lava stone used as raw materials come from the oldest active volcano in the world: Mount Etna in Sicily.

Lava stone has always been used as a building material. Today, however, a new manufacturing technique has made it possible to offer a product called Majolica, a glazed form of lava stone with advantages that raw stones such as marble, terracotta and granite lack. For example, it is even more resistant to water and chemicals, and it adapts easily to temperature changes.
That is why Made a Mano’s lava tiles can be used on fireplaces, in bathrooms, on floors, on stairs, on kitchen countertops and in sinks, in swimming pools, in mosaics and even in sculptures.
At the same time, the glazing technique allows a wide variety of colours and decorative motifs to be used.
Lava tiles can be made in pieces that vary in shape, size and thickness.
The design technique used is free hand drawing: the tiles are drawn by hand with a special pen, and the colour is then applied with special brushes. It is a complex but remarkable technique, and it explains the distinctive result found in the Made a Mano collections.

The “Handprinting” technique is also used. It is similar to screen printing, although handprinting uses shapes and patterns that are pressed and printed onto the object. Here too, the colours are applied to the object with a special brush.
