Lighting and Health – No. 2

Various long-term studies have shown that light can treat psoriasis and other skin conditions and sleep disorders, prevent the development of myopia, and block the transmission of airborne diseases.

Studies are under way to investigate the effects of light on high blood pressure and heart disease.

According to the experts, the results may show that the lighting needed to help improve our health requires far more energy than the lighting that meets our visual needs. More specifically, scientists speak of at least ten times as much electricity to achieve this goal.

Even so, they believe that government energy regulations will not stand in the way of measures to improve health.

But imagine being able to work in an environment where the lighting not only helped you get your work done, but also improved the quality and clarity of your life.
