The “Lighthouse Lamp” reflects the philosophy that objects have a standing of their own and can exist independently of the environment they are placed in, while at the same time having the power to transform and redefine a space.
Designed by Dimitrios Stamatakis, a young designer based in Athens, the “Lighthouse Lamp” aims, as he explains, to create a sense of “orientation” through its emissions of light and energy, positively affecting those who gather around it.

The lamp, which stands 1.70 metres tall, “defines its surroundings through its functionality and its presence in the space,” says the young Greek designer.
Its striking design won first group prize in the Young Balkan Designers 2011 competition. It consists of a maple wood tripod base and a powerful, custom-made LED lighting system, housed in a handmade, elongated capsule made of heat-resistant borosilicate glass.
It has been produced in a limited edition of 12 pieces in collaboration with the French company Tools Gallery, which is also the exclusive distributor of the “Lighthouse lamp” in France.

The horizontal use of light, which determines the form and design of the Lighthouse lamp, diffuses light around the perimeter of the space when the lamp is set on the tripod. This lends the lamp the character of a “monument”, one that seems to be trying to draw life towards it.
