With a spirit of recycling and artistic creativity, Claire Chauvin presents on her website an interesting and inexpensive idea for table lamps. She uses IKEA’s simple glass Grönö lamp as the base, giving it a more distinctive, retro look by covering it with negative film from old photographs.
To make the lamp, you will need a special glue for the decoupage technique (Mod Podge), which is used to attach the film, arranged vertically or horizontally, to the surfaces of the lamp.
Once the lamp is covered with film, you need to go over it with another coat of glue to fix the composition in place. If the strips don’t hold very firmly, you can put a rubber band around the lamp to keep the film pressed against it until the glue dries.
In the photographs below, Claire shows us the steps to follow.

Tip: For equally striking lamps, you can also use colour film or even pieces of X-ray film.
