The industrial pallet chandelier by Studiomama is a distinctive piece for two reasons: first, despite the simplicity of the idea, it achieves a striking result; and second, it is undoubtedly an inspiration for a DIY project, reminding us that you can create one-of-a-kind objects with personality by recycling simple materials.
If it has tempted you to try making one yourself, the idea is quite simple in concept:
Take a pallet apart and sand down the boards you will use for your light fitting.
Cut the channels/grooves on the inner side of each board, in which the cables for the bulbs will sit.
Drill the holes where the lampholders for the bulbs will be fixed.
Assemble as many pieces as you wish, in whatever arrangements you find interesting.
Hang your new light fitting.
