We have written before about the DEDE Dextrous Design team itself, as well as about objects they have created. Fouad Assour and Aliki Rovithi, who make up the team, have worked together since 2007 and have taken part in exhibitions such as DESIGN 2009/2011, DESIGN LAB 2010, Design Lab Athens 2013, 2011% GREEK DESIGN, GREEN DESIGN FESTIVAL 2010 and S-M-L-XL HELLENIC DESIGH.
The new projects they presented at Design Lab Athens 2013 are the Super Hero Chair and the Combio tables.
Super Hero chair
Minimal and functional, the Super Hero chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. It is lightweight and free of unnecessary ornament. Its shape is dynamic yet stable, and its large openings mean that less raw material is needed to produce it.
It is made from 10mm sandblasted acrylic sheet and, with some adjustments, can also be mass-produced in moulded polypropylene.
Its creators have said: “Our love of fiction made the folded shape of the chair look to us like a superhero whose cape flutters in the wind as he sweeps away evil in his path. The Super Hero chair was born, and that is a fact, not a myth.”
Combio Tables
Combio is a pair.
Each pair of tables is made from a single sheet of metal. The Combio tables can be used individually as bedside tables, or combined, emphasising their shared origin, and used as coffee tables.
They are made from 5mm galvanised sheet steel with a powder coating, which makes them suitable for outdoor arrangements as well as for indoor use.
The legs can easily be taken apart, which makes the tables easy to store and transport.
As the designers explain, the name refers both to the comb-like shape of the flat surface (comb) and to the tables’ ability to be combined (be combined). And that is how Combio came about!
