Scott Schuman – Satorialist

When a love of fashion and a love of photography meet, and become a design trend setter...

Scott Schuman - Satorialist

After 11 September, a man from the world of fashion began posting photographs he took on the streets of New York on a blog. In his pictures, in an attempt to combine his love of fashion with his love of photography, he captures ordinary, everyday people who manage to catch his eye with the way they dress.

He is the man behind “Satorialist”, the famous blog that Time Magazine now counts among the top design influencers!

Scott Schuman worked in the fashion industry for 15 years, but he always felt there was a gap between what is sold on the catwalk and what “real” people actually wear. So he believed – and he succeeded – that by photographing people on city streets through the eyes of a designer, he could offer fashion designers inspiration himself. In his photographs, he does not look at the outfit of his “models” as a complete whole, but searches for original takes on colour, proportion, combinations of different styles and so on.

And so Scott Schuman, now wandering the streets of major cities all over the world, searches, finds and shares with all of us stimulus and inspiration, “as if falling a little more in love” every day with the world around him…

It is well worth watching the following video, a documentary tribute to Scott Schuman that presents his work and the way he thinks.
