Jaime Hayon’s Vases

A special gift from the unconventional designer to mark b.d's 40th anniversary

Jaime Hayon’s Vases

Long before the question of how design and art can coexist and interact was ever raised, the Spanish company b.d (Barcelona Design) had the foresight to bring the work of pioneering artists such as Juan Cris and Salvador Dali into its production.

It has not lost that obsession over its 40-year history (1972-2012), with collaborations that were never aimed at the predictable or the conventional.

The Spanish designer James Hayon is one of b.d’s favourite creators. The company has added to its collections his Showtime series as well as the now-famous Lounger armchair.

To mark the anniversary, Hayon has redesigned the original Showtime vases, in a limited edition, stripping them of their bold colours but not of their humorous spirit.

Forms that recall alien creatures and carry black-and-white sketches make up a “gang” of decorative objects for spaces with an atmosphere straight out of a comic book.
