As part of the communication strategy for the upcoming MADE expo, and on the occasion of the participation of Greek companies, Francesco Ghilardotti (Export Director of MADE expo) and Lisa Naetscher (Sales Manager) were in Athens on 19-20 June, shortly before the year’s major international trade fair for building materials and construction. Their aim was to present the advantages of being a “member” of the MADE expo community and to make them widely known to the Greek market!

The Interiors from Greece platform, which recently formalised its cooperation with MADE EXPO, met with representatives of the international fair. In an exclusive interview, it sought to draw out the factors that should lead Greek companies to choose to take part in the fair over the long term, as part of their export strategy, and Greek professionals to visit it. Read what they told us!

With a new, dynamic concept, MADE expo is stronger than ever. Naetscher points out: “Now in its second year, MADE expo addresses the entire construction world. From 2 to 5 October we expect manufacturers, architects, engineers, interior decorators and trade representatives to come and see at first hand the latest the industry has to offer.” She goes on to describe the fair’s competitive advantages: “The main assets that strengthen what is already an established event are its focus on the most innovative products and, above all, on design and aesthetics.”

For his part, Ghilardotti comments on MADE expo’s strategic moves in light of the current global economic situation: “The organisers, aware of the changes brought about by the new economic conditions, are adapting the event to the present day. It is becoming even more outward-looking and focusing on international markets. In this way a different network of markets is being created, covering an extremely broad range of countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, South Africa, Asian countries, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Turkey and others.”

The logic, after all, is simple: the more international exhibitors, the more international visitors. “Of course, this doesn’t come about through the four days of the fair alone. It requires continuous, worldwide promotion of the event, with MADE expo present at other fairs throughout the year. Important events have already been held in Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg), Ukraine, Turkey and Greece, as well as in emerging markets such as Saudi Arabia, Africa, Nigeria and South Africa, and in the Mediterranean countries. At the same time, the fact that MADE expo and iSaloni are run by the same organising company, Federlegno, gave the former a significant boost during the latter last April,” Ghilardotti stresses.

That was also when the MADE expo organisers first came into contact with the Greek furniture and lighting companies that took part in iSaloni under the Interiors from Greece banner. Having judged the Greek presence positively, they concluded that a similarly strong Greek participation by building and construction materials companies belongs at MADE expo in October. Its representatives said specifically that this is a great opportunity for Greek professionals to “make the most of” the name and the momentum of MADE expo.
