Helen Αmy Murray

Richly textured designs that could be described as works of art...

Helen Αmy Murray

Helen Αmy Murray was born in a provincial town in the UK and has lived and worked in London since 1999.

She studied at Chelsea College Of Art & Design. Inspired by the exquisite wood and marble carvings of Indian culture, she set out to create similarly intricate, relief surfaces in other materials, by weaving or engraving them.

Most of her work focuses on interior applications, chiefly wall coverings and luxury furniture, with both modern and vintage references.

The already broad range of colours and materials she uses in her creations can be extended further, as the artist experiments to suit the needs of each commission.

Natural or faux leather, suede, paper, and woven wool or silk are just some of the materials that become works of art in Helen Murray’s hands.

With enthusiasm, skill and a refined aesthetic as her constant “collaborators”, she draws on every experience and stimulus, from the countryside where she grew up as well as from the city in which she moves every day.

Using innovative techniques in her handmade pieces, Helen has gained an international reputation for the talent and distinctiveness of her work.

Helen Murray’s work has been recognised with awards over the years, most recently at the international exhibition Decorex International 2010 in London, in the Craftsmanship design category, which is aimed at emerging designers and helps them establish their brand in the market.
