Grand Central

The Grand Central table was inspired by the folding tourist maps of New York.

Grand Central is the result of a collaboration between two young but highly promising Swedish designers, Sanna Lindstrom and Sigrid Stromgren, who presented their work for the first time at the annual furniture fair Salone Satellite 2010 in Milan.

The innovative Grand Central table is made of lacquered plywood and MDF board. Its distinctive feature is that it folds out: a small, practical side table transforms into a round central table.

The 22 pieces that make up the surface of Grand Central “unfold” impressively, like a map, thanks to their advanced construction. The result is both dramatic and poetic.
