Young designer Dik Scheepers recently graduated from the ABK Maastricht art academy in the Netherlands, and was singled out as a rising young designer at Dutch Design Week 2010, held in Eindhoven in October.
Dik Scheepers’ new ceramics series, titled Pieces of Π, includes porcelain plates and vases in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The hallmark of the series is the “perfectly imperfect form of the ceramics”!
As the designer himself says, “I don’t believe you need to make the perfect mould. I accept imperfections that are usually not accepted. These imperfections become a defining feature of the product and reveal traces of the production process. As a result, they make the object more beautiful.”
Dik Scheepers is currently showing his work in the exhibition Design Your Future, organised by the Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht art academy in the Netherlands.
