Next month, the Copenhagen-based design team KiBiSi will launch Brick, a new seating collection produced by Versus. The collection includes a pouf, an armchair, and a two-seater and three-seater sofa.
The design of the furniture draws on basic principles of architectural construction, imitating the way a brick wall is built. Here the bricks have been replaced by cushions, which are held together by a series of specially made buttons. The original buttons, also designed by KiBiSi, are cast in a mould from a mix of concrete and natural fibres.
As the designers themselves put it: “What is a sofa if not a pile of cushions for comfort! The Brick collection applies the tectonics of brick construction to stack cushions in the shape of sandbags – architecture in the form of comfort!
