Focus has been designing fireplaces and hearths since the 1970s, and its products are renowned for their organic forms – fire hearths that take the form of sculptural objects.
Last year, Focus won the award for “The Most Aesthetically Pleasing Object” at the Pulchra Design Competition 2009 (Italy) with its Gyrofocus hearth. This year it presented the Sigmafocus and Diagofocus models – steel barbecue hearths for outdoor spaces.

Sigmafocus barbecue hearth
The sculptural form of both models seems to be inspired by the sea. The Sigmafocus barbecue hearth is mounted on a wall, resembling a ship’s porthole, and folds away to save space. It is practical as well as good-looking: there is a choice of three grilling positions and a large steel base, while the round wall-mounted plate protects the wall surface from smoke.

Diagofocus hearth
The Diagofocus hearth is multifunctional, as it can be used either as a barbecue or as a fireplace, burning firewood or bioethanol (an eco-friendly fireplace fuel). Its wheeled base allows it to be moved according to the direction of the wind, while its shape, reminiscent of a ship’s funnel, shields the fire from the wind during grilling and channels the smoke away from the space.
